Bellingham International Airport Ph I
- Location: Bellingham, WA
- Client: Port of Bellingham
- Size: 85,000 SF
The Bellingham International Airport has experienced an unprecedented growth from 70,000 passengers in 2005 to over 500,000 in 2012. This increase in traffic has required a major expansion of the terminal from the current 23,000 SF to 108,000 SF. The work is being accomplished in two phases. Phase I added a new 500 seat gate lobby area of 20,000 SF. The airport had to remain fully operational and secure during the construction phase. The project was carefully planned and sequenced so that the contractor could be productive, passengers remain safe and whole departments or areas temporarily relocated while the new work took pace.
Zervas is the architect of record and is a consultant to URS who is providing airport planning and engineering. The $7.1M Phase I was completed in the spring of 2011.
