A creative, big-picture thinker who also handles details with ease, Terry takes design seriously and has fun doing it. While he brings a depth of experience in the planning and design of educational facilities, his sensitive approach to design is evident across a range of commercial and residential projects, whose timeless quality speaks to his commitment to excellence. Terry is a great synthesizer, able to establish common ground among diverse opinions and ideas, a characteristic that also serves the community well. He has offered his time and talent to local schools and sports organizations and has also served as President of the AIA NW Washington chapter, on the Board of Code Appeals for the City of Bellingham, and on the Board of Directors for the Bellingham Bay Rotary Club. Terry earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Washington State University in 1981, studied at the University of Copenhagen in 1980 and also offers specialized expertise in arctic engineering gained during the nine years he practiced in Alaska. He joined Zervas in 1990, and became a partner in 1997.
